“Linda Ding: Still Life.” Opening Reception 5:30-8pm. Artist talk at 7pm. Linda Ding, a graduate of The Cleveland Institute of Art (2010), uses her installations to create and heighten the physical and emotional conditions amongst two people in social situations. In the context of interior spaces, abstraction and symbolic forms are used to refer to the human. To manipulate the social space, Ding draws from the notions of intimacy and privacy to examine how interaction is a response to physical and emotional closeness. About the Artist: Linda Ding, a graduate of The Cleveland Institute of Art (2010), is currently working in Cincinnati, OH. She recently exhibited in Art in an Instant, curated by Julia Pressman, at the Thompson Gallery, The Cambridge School of Weston (MA) and in the Student Independent Exhibition, curated by Christa Donner, Dario Robleto, and Pascual Sisto, at the Reinberger Gallery (Cleveland, OH). ALSO: Lauren Yeager/ Scott Stibich: Familiar Machines Artists Talks begins at 6:15, Euclid Avenue Gallery The Collaboration of Lauren Yeager and Scott Stibich joins two recent Cleveland Institute of Art graduates (2009 and 2010 respectively) who will create sculptures that seek to mimic the perceptual experiences of extraordinary events such as sky diving, sensory deprivation and a solar eclipse. They will recreate these experiences by means of everyday objects with the goal that the materials themselves will disappear leaving only the sensory experience. about the artist | Scott Stibich Scott Stibich is a graduate of The Cleveland Institute of Art (2010) and the current technical assistant for the sculpture department at The Cleveland Institute of Art. HIs work was chosen by jurors Gregory Amenoff, Chair of the Visual Arts Division of Columbia University's School of the Arts, and Paola Morsiani, Curator of Contemporary Art at the Cleveland Museum of Art, for the 4th and 5th iterations of the annual exhibition After the Pedestal at The Sculpture Center. “Temporary: Photography, Installation & Design Inspired by Post Industrial America.” Openign Reception 5pm. The rust belt region is full of reminders of a more prosperous past. A significant loss of manufacturing jobs coupled with massive population decline, eroding infrastructure and political corruption have left the region ravaged and depressed. Cities like Buffalo, Pittsburgh, Youngstown, Akron, Gary, Detroit, and Flint have all experienced the ‘shrinking city’ phenomenon with mixed results.” Our cities are crumbling, shrinking, changing… Hence, EVERYTHING IS TEMPORARY. Dave Desdimone and Ron Copeland spent four years exploring abandoned factories, steel mills and the like and have much to show for it. Don’t miss Temporary: Photography, Installation and Design Inspired by Post Industrial America @ Studio 2091 Mothersbaugh Roos 2091 Front Street, Cuyahoga Falls http://Studio2091.com

“Bob Peck
LET THE CHIPS FALL.” Opening Reception: 7-10 PM. Bob Peck has fallen victim himself at times, spewing statements about graffiti art and transcendence alike. In the end, though, he is an abstract artist, regardless of the roots that may add that sense of Vice-Magazine-counter-culture-bad-boy-ism to his work. He is simply a man who loves to paint the designs trapped in his imagination. William Rupnik Gallery 1117 Euclid Ave. Cleveland, Ohio 44115
