“ABNORMAL GROWTH.”Opening Reception: 7-10 PM, Saturday, April 7th. John Ryan and Beth (Kappa) Ryan's newest exhibition, Abnormal Growth, presents original artworks that playfully meld the integration and disintegration of pattern, color and form using paintings, found objects and man-made organic forms. The artworks are intended to be both serene and disquieting; a sensitive abnormality of collaborative invention. The portfolio of works began with a search for images and objects that could be seen as a host for other art forms, including painting and installation. John and Beth playfully toyed with the idea of these objects and artworks containing physical “growths”. As the works progressed, they realized the growth was not only a mesh of physical products, but also a mutual collapse of object and form. John and Beth have been collaborating on artwork since 2005. Their collaborations have not always been intentional, yet a mutual design aesthetic has grown between them. Abnormal Growth is the first complete exhibition that showcases this growth of ideas, both individually and combined. William Rupnik Gallery 1117 Euclid Ave. Cleveland, Ohio 44115
