Shaker Historical Society.  16740 South Park Blvd.  Shaker Heights.   “Lori Kella-Artificial Worlds.”  Opening 6-8pm. Lori Kella’s photographs depict both grand landscapes and detailed narratives. The works often intersect, as they are both metaphors for uncertainty. They present increasingly unreal elements that create a tension for the viewer. Her images offer an enticing – or sometimes bleak – reality and an obvious incongruence leaving you wondering just how real, or unreal, these worlds may be. Through photographing room-sized dioramas and models based on maps, photographs, and satellite images, Lori investigates the changing landscape and its photographic representation. Her work explores the beauty and seduction of remote environments while acknowledging that these near mythical views are both fragile and transitory, and often unobtainable.

By coming together for important common goals, we become more influential politically, socially and economically on a national level.  While the art in this exhibition is not specifically Cleveland-themed, this event is a celebration of our mutual home.
