If you’d like to hear from Loren’s own mouth about his experiences up in Michigan and learn more about why he did the project, drop by his Ohio City studio where he will give a brief talk about the project. He’ll tell you how he came up with the idea, how he built the sphere, what it was like living in it and what he was trying to convey. He’ll also talk about what’s come out of the project and where it’s going in the future. There will be an audience Q&A and an afterparty at a location to be disclosed. It’s free. (Image Above)

Morgan Conservatory, 1754 E. 47th Street, Cleveland, 216.361.9255, www.morganconservatory.org  “Denise Bookwalter and Susan Warner Keene.”  Opening 6:30-8:30PM.  Florida State University associate professor of printmaking Denise Bookwalter’s Matiere — referring to a material’s tactile surface quality — explores both traditional and digital processes, old and new print technologies and incorporates non-traditional media.  Toronto-based Susan Warner Keene uses handmade paper to look at how it can interpret experience and the impact of experience on an individual narrative, looking at how it can assume elements of human-related physicality that relate to body perception.

Beachwood Community Center 25325 Fairmount Blvd, Beachwood.  “Inked Images: Seven Printmakers.”  Opening 5-8PM.  The work of seven area artists — all women and some of them with formidable reputations — comprises the show Inked Images: Seven Printmakers. Participating artists include Abbey Blake, Amy Casey, Liz Maugans (one of the c0founders of the 20-year-old Zygote Press, a local hub for printmakers), Wendy Partridge, Nicole Schneider, Lisa Schonberg, and Paula Zinsmeister.

“Progressive Insurance Art Tour.” 2-4PM.  Progressive Insurance, headquartered in Mayfield Village, is known for its impressive private art collection with 7,500 works by 2,000 contemporary artists, including such art stars Andy Warhol, Davd Wojnarowicz, Nan Goldin, Cindy Sherman, David Hockney and Andreas Gursky.  Normally the works are only seen on display in Progressive offices around the world. But the Artists Archives of the Western Reserve is giving people a chance to get a glimpse of the collection, with a two-hour tour. It’s free for AAWR, $10 for non-members but you must make a reservation through AAWR.
