Penland has planned a special trip to London during the run of the British craft fair COLLECT. We hope you will join us!
We begin our time together on May 12 and have full days planned for May 12, 13, 14, and 15. We have VIP tours of the Victoria & Albert Museum with curators, visits to collector homes, a tour of the historic Goldsmiths Hall, special previews of COLLECT, and private openings at numerous artists' studios. We will cap our visit to London with dinner at Penland Trustee Sarah Elson and her husband Louis' home.
See the detailed itinerary at the end of this message.
PLEASE CONFIRM WITH US NO LATER THAN MARCH 24, 2010. We currently have reserved 15 double rooms at the Kensington Hilton Hotel and can accommodate up to 30 people on our tour.
Note: the reserved hotel rooms are doubles with twin beds. If you want to make adjustments, please discuss this with Susie Gross, see contact information below. Note the times on our itinerary when you are on your own. Air transportation is on your own.
Your cost will vary depending on your housing arrangements. Each participant on the tour will pay the fee that covers ground transportation for 4 days, 3 lunches, one evening meal, gifts to our hosts, and Penland's planning time.
How to pay-you MUST make two payments-one payment to Susie Gross at CWT Vacations + one payment to Penland. The payment to CWT Vacations covers hotel and bus costs for 3 days. The payment to Penland covers the day with the Renwick, meals, gifts, and Penland-related costs.
For hotel and ground transportation, provide Susie Gross with a credit card number for either $770 if you are staying in the Kensington Hilton Hotel and joining the tour or $195 if you have made your own housing arrangements but are joining the tour. The Kensington rate covers 5 nights, breakfasts, and taxes.
Send a check payable to Penland School of Crafts ATTN London trip or call me (ext 12), Mike Davis (ext 33), or my assistant Betsy Dewitt (ext 13) with a credit card for $765 per person which covers the day we spend with the Renwick Alliance, four meals, Collect tickets, host gifts, and Penland's expenses. $555 of the Penland amount is tax deductible.
I wish this didn't have to be so complicated, but it provides us with a great hotel and ground travel rate.
Summary Costs:
Penland check or credit card $765 per person + CWT Vacations credit card $770 (hotel and bus) or $195 (no hotel/bus only)
Susie's contact information is below. You may contact her to help with extending your hotel stay at this rate prior to May 11 or after May 15. You may want assistance with flights, transport to hotel from the airport, or other travel questions.
