The Beck Center is looking for a ceramic artist with experience working with children (ages 6 to 12) to teach two, 3 week sessions this summer.
The Camps are from June 16th to July 3rd for the first, with the times being 9:30 to 12:00pm and the second runs from July 28 to August 15thand goes from 12:30pm to 3:00pm. The last Fridays of each camp ends with an art show in the Daniels Lounge of the Beck Center. The ceramic artist will be working with another visual artist who will work with the students using other visual arts materials. There will be two rooms with, one hour sessions, a half hour snack break, and then the classes switch. Zygote Press, 1410 East 30th St., Cleveland 216.621.2900 www.zygotepress.com “The Big Show and Iron Printmaker Exhibition + Benefit.” Opening 6-9pm. In Zygote Press’ gallery, The Big Show will feature work curated by Cleveland Museum of Art conservator and curator Per Knutas. Participating local artists include Bruce Chechefsky, Jeff Chiplis, Gianna Committo, Andy Curlowe, TR Ericsson, Andrea Joki, Lori Kella, Dante Rodriguez, Achala Wali and many more. All works are priced under $250. All sales benefit the artists – with Zygote benefiting through their standard gallery commission. Simultaneously, the Iron Printmaker will take place in Zygote’s printshop starting at 7pm. Two teams of foodies and artists will compete in an Iron Chef format – using mystery ingredients to create four prints each. Guest judges include Michael Heaton (Minister of Culture, The Plain Dealer), Grafton Nunes (President, Cleveland Institute of Art) and Jill Snyder (Executive Director, MOCA Cleveland). Bribes are shamelessly accepted (and benefit Zygote).

Every year, SPACES hosts their annual Monster Drawing Rally to benefit the gallery and their efforts. Museum of Contemporary Art, 11400 Euclid Ave., Cleveland 216.421.8671, www.mocacleveland.org “And in My Dream I Was Rolling on the Floor.” Opening 6:45. This weekend, MOCA Cleveland presents, a unique, site-specific sound installations by NYC-based artist Kevin Beasley in MOCA’s Gund Commons as well as the historic Cozad-Bates mansion located just across the street. The events will link the oldest and newest structures in University Circle. The Cozad estate will host four pieces (30-45 minutes each), while MOCA will be become a listening environment. The four works are designed specifically to capturing the shifting atmosphere throughout the evening.
