Hedge Gallery 1300 W.78th Street, Cleveland.  “Material Girls.”  Opening 5-9pm. This mission continues with its upcoming exhibit Material Girls, running 6/19 through 8/21 at the Cleveland venue. The artists are Cleveland Institute of Art graduates Katy Richards and Nikki Woods, who have been on HEDGE Art Gallery director Hilary D. Gent’s radar for four years. Overall, the two painters will be showing off more than 40 new pieces of work. This marks their debut at HEDGE.

Featuring work by NOC’s Own Stephanie Craig.  (Image Above.)  View outstanding, small three-dimensional work by artists of the region in the Sculpture Center’s juried exhibition, After the Pedestal, the 8th Exhibition of Small Sculpture from the Region. Prominent sound and installation artist Johnny Coleman [pictured] of Oberlin has chosen 30 pieces by 17 sculptors and one collaboration from a diverse pool of applicants.  Coleman says on the sculptures, “In reflecting upon the work selected, an open weave of recurrent themes began to emerge: the exploration of place/dwelling and memory, alongside of interior/intuitive spaces of the mind. I continue to look to, and learn from these artists and their work. I am excited to be immersed within an artistic region as rich as this.”

Cleveland Print Room (in Artcraft Building), 2550 Superior Ave, Suite 102, Cleveland, 216.401.5981 “The Peer Show.” 5 – 9pm.  Cleveland Print Room presents their first ever juried exhibition of photographic art. Judged by the Cleveland Museum of Art’s Curator of Photography, Barbara Tannenbaum, The Peer Show features works by 32 artists, showcasing a wide range of styles, techniques and photographic media. Step out of this Instagram age and gaze at some real photographic art.

Gallery One Sixty, 16008 Waterloo Road, Cleveland.  “Photos of Dead Boys Stiv Bators.”  Opening 6-Midnight. The photos were taken by Dave Treat, a friend and neighbor of Dead Boys’ lead singer and provocateur Stiv Bators just as the band was coming together and getting ready to make their assault on the national punk scene with their album Young Loud and Snotty the following year.

Featured artist Tony Lewis will be talking with special guest Anthony Stepter, a Chicago-based artist, community organizer and educator, and MOCA Cleveland’s Associate Curator, Rose Bouthillier, about Lewis’ first solo museum exhibition, Tony Lewis: free movement power nomenclature pressure weight. After the talk, Lewis will be around in the gallery if you want to discuss something further.

Riverside Park:  Chagrin Falls.  “Art By The Falls.” Saturday 10-7  Sunday 11-5pm.  Featuring work by NOC artists.  What began 32 years ago with a few artists in Chagrin Falls has evolved into a two-day, juried fine arts and contemporary crafts festival featuring 120 artists from all over the country. There will be varied artwork ranging from paintings, drawings, photography, jewelry, ceramics, sculpture and textiles. Hosted by the Valley Art Center, Art by the Falls draws around 15,000 visitors, engaging them in art, music, dancing, local cuisine, shopping, galleries and parks.
