Positions available
We have two ceramic positions open in our department. My senior colleague, Gail Kendall, is retiring and we are conducting a search for a full-time tenure-track position in ceramics. In addition, our department chair is also retiring from that position and I'm taking that job for two years. We plan on hiring a full-time non-tenure track Assistant Professor of Practice to teach my undergraduate classes (I'm going to continue working with our ceramics grad program). Here are the descriptions and links for the two positions:
Position Title: Assistant Professor, Ceramics
Position Type: 9-month, tenure track
Description: teach undergraduate and graduate courses in ceramics, assist in supervising the ceramics area, and mentor and advise students. Develop/maintain a national profile as a ceramic artist. Serve on faculty committees (Department, College and University) as well as professional and community organizations. Work in a collegial manner with fellow faculty, staff members, students, and administrators.
Qualifications: M.F.A. degree in Art required, college-level teaching experience preferred. Candidates must demonstrate a broad knowledge of ceramic art and its processes and be able to discuss contemporary and historical issues in an articulate and informed manner. Preference will be given to individuals with a strong record of exhibitions and other creative or professional achievements and demonstrable college teaching effectiveness.

Assistant Professor of Practice, Ceramics, non- tenure track. One-year full-time appointment, with the option of a second year. M.F.A. degree in Art required, college-level teaching experience preferred. Ability to teach undergraduate courses in ceramics, assist in supervising ceramics program, mentor and advise students. An ability to teach entry-level university courses in a second area (such as Graphic Design, Drawing, or Freshman Foundation) is preferred. The successful candidate will be expected to serve on faculty committees, professional and community organizations, and work in a collegial manner with faculty, staff, students and administration.
