“Shop ’til you drop? Copia – Retail, Thrift, and Dark Stores 2001-11.” Whereas certain Midwest cities, ahem, already have an inauspicious tag of being called the Rust Belt, contemporary photographer Brian Ulrich explores another level of decay or disrepair infecting the same areas — only this time in the suburbs — in his new exhibition, on view Sat 8/27 through Mon 1/16 The former Cleveland resident, University of Akron student and Cleveland Museum of Art employee spent a decade examining the economic, cultural and political implications of commercialism and American consumer culture. Big Ass Papermaking Workshop! Fri 8/19 – Sun 8/21 Join a 3-day “hands-on, feet-in” Big Ass Papermaking Workshop from Fri 8/19 – Sun 8/21/11 @ the Morgan Art of Papermaking Conservatory. Check it out: “When we say big, we mean BIG! It is going to take 4 people working together to pull each large sheet of paper with two people in the vat to disperse the pulp.
