“Alterations.” Opening Reception 5 – 11pm. Alteration is different from creation. Or is it? These three artists make certain that the added lines, textures, and patterns in their work yield results as rich and independent as the original. By way of material exploration and process-oriented execution, Sarah Isenhart, Jessica Pinsky, and Beth Whalley deliver thoughtful constructions. Opening night also features two sets of free jazz from The Oblique Orchestra (of Columbus) beginning after 9pm. Survival kit Gallery, 1305 W. 80th Street #3c, Cleveland www.survivalkitgallery.com

“Breaking Down-Closing Reception.” 5-9pm. The phrase, “breaking down” refers to something either falling apart or being taken apart. In the work of Michael Abarca and Karl Anderson, both of these prospects develop simultaneously. Examining the impending failure of functional objects and contrarieties in language, each artist illustrates the break down by deconstructing individual elements and highlighting flaws in these man-made structures. “The Annual Holiday Members Show and Sale.” Opening Reception from 5 pm to 8 pm. AAWR Executive Director, Kenneth Goerg, commented “The Holiday Members Show and Sale is one of my favorite exhibitions of the year. What’s so special about it is that it rings in the Holiday Season, and brings friends together to enjoy each other and the bountiful display of art around them.” This show is a festive presentation reflecting the diverse styles of well known Cleveland area artists. It’s also an opportunity for members of the AAWR to showcase, promote, and sell their work to the public in our premier gallery space. AAWR members are each invited to showcase two original artworks and with a membership of over a hundred artists, the Holiday Members Show and Sale is sure to offer something for everyone!
