Sculpture Center, 1834 East 123rd St., Cleveland, 216.229.6527  sculpturecenter.org  “After the Pedestal.”  Opening 5:30 – 8pm. Featuring work by NOC’s Own Stephanie Craig.  (Image Above.)  View outstanding, small three-dimensional work by artists of the region in the Sculpture Center’s juried exhibition, After the Pedestal, the 8th Exhibition of Small Sculpture from the Region. Prominent sound and installation artist Johnny Coleman [pictured] of Oberlin has chosen 30 pieces by 17 sculptors and one collaboration from a diverse pool of applicants.  Coleman says on the sculptures, “In reflecting upon the work selected, an open weave of recurrent themes began to emerge: the exploration of place/dwelling and memory, alongside of interior/intuitive spaces of the mind. I continue to look to, and learn from these artists and their work. I am excited to be immersed within an artistic region as rich as this.”

Cleveland Print Room (in Artcraft Building), 2550 Superior Ave, Suite 102, Cleveland, 216.401.5981 “The Peer Show.” 5 – 9pm.  Cleveland Print Room presents their first ever juried exhibition of photographic art. Judged by the Cleveland Museum of Art’s Curator of Photography, Barbara Tannenbaum, The Peer Show features works by 32 artists, showcasing a wide range of styles, techniques and photographic media. Step out of this Instagram age and gaze at some real photographic art.

It’s summer and MOCA has two new exhibitions for your perusal: How to Remain Human and Tony Lewis: free movement power nomenclature pressure weight, each running through Sat 9/5.  Ring in both exhibitions with a Summer Season Opening Night Party. Curators will discuss the shows at 7pm followed by live music and kid-friendly activities. Hear from ten-piece band Hybrid Shakedown and indie rockers These Knees.

“Bay Arts Fest.”  10am – 4pm.  Shop local. Eat local. Play local. That’s the mantra of the BAYarts Art & Music Festival. Situated near the lake, this annual festival features an array of artists showcasing their work along with live music, great food and free admission.
