“Textual Healing.” Opening @ 6pm. Sarah Gotowka knows WTF is up in her new exhibit Textual Healing, opening @ Proximity Cleveland.  This Montreal-based textile artist uses traditional techniques to explore the world of communication through technology, focusing specifically on romantic relationships. She explores “the ways that text message slang, Facebook statuses, and emoticons have overtaken love letters and face-to-face conversations as preferred relationship-building tools among young adults.”  Come check out this art exhibit/cultural anthropology study that’s totally relevant for our times. Proximity Gallery, 1667 East 40th, Cleveland 216.262.8903 www.proximitycleveland.com
“Sam Martineau – Radio 9.” Opening 6 – 9pm. Radio 9 is an exhibit by Brooklyn-based painter (and CIA alumnus) Sam Martineau.  Martineau’s paintings and collages on record albums are deceptively simple and exquisitely executed; they respond to the forms of mid-century graphic design, racing, and car culture, as well as music packaging.  After-party at 9pm @ the Beachland w/ Cool Devices, RA Washington & The Family Dollar, Night Sweats, and The Village Bicycle. Arts Collinwood, 15605 Waterloo Rd., Cleveland, 216.692.9500 artscollinwood.org
“Jason Robert Carroll:  Depth of Place.”  OPENING from 6-10PM. The exhibit will run through November by appointment and will be open to the public again on December 14th for a closing reception.  "My intent in these images is to capture a frame of time, a before and an after; to attune the viewer to the unseen emotions echoed everywhere we go. The images are a recognition that even in the most mundane places, it is likely that something meaningful happened there, somewhere along the line.  Even without people, places have depth, and they have emotional resonance." Mastroianni Photography and Arts.  2688 W. 14th Street, Cleveland

Paintings by James March and photography by Ryn Clark.” Willoughby-Hills-Community-Gallery.  35400 Chardon Road, Willoughby Hills, Oh.
