Free evening celebrating art, music, performance and community. “Listen to the curators and artists discuss the works on view, make a new artwork in the Family Art Studio enjoy cocktails and live music featuring The Modern Electric on the plaza, and be delighted by surprise pop-up performances during the event.”  Nice, eh? Party starts at 7pm. Family art studio from 7 – 8:30pm. Live music at 8pm. Afterparty at ABC Tavern Uptown starting at 10pm.
Doubting Thomas Gallery, 856 Jefferson St., Tremont  “The Mix.”  Opening 6-10pm. A group show celebrating mixed media in all it's various forms. Deliberate designs, found objects, and creative collaborations all find their place among the walls.

Local art magazine CAN Journal celebrates its one year anniversary with a benefit party titled “Y2CAN” at Convivium33 Gallery.  The night will feature food from local restaurants, drinks served by celebrity guest bartenders, a silent art auction featuring high-quality work by established local artists, jazz by the Chris Vance Quartet and more.  For those who may not be familiar with CAN Journal, allow me to offer a bit of context.  CAN stands for “Collective Arts Network.”  The magazine was created a year ago as the brain child of Liz Maugans, Bellamy Printz and the crew at Zygote Press.
