E11even 2 Gallery at 78th Street Studios.  “50 Dollar Show.”  5 – 9pm.  The show is first come, first serve, so get there early and find works by Christina Sadowski, Billy Nainiger, R!ch Cihlar, Tessa LeBaron, Melanie Victoria, Katie Harroff, George Kocar, Ryan Kacsandy, Rick Sans, Sergio Andjuar II, Christina Bender, Steve King, Tracie Szalai, CHOD, Bob Peck, David Shafron, and more.
Hedge Gallery 1300 W.78th Street, Cleveland.  “Material Girls.”  Opening 5-9pm. This mission continues with its upcoming exhibit Material Girls, running 6/19 through 8/21 at the Cleveland venue. The artists are Cleveland Institute of Art graduates Katy Richards and Nikki Woods, who have been on HEDGE Art Gallery director Hilary D. Gent’s radar for four years. Overall, the two painters will be showing off more than 40 new pieces of work. This marks their debut at HEDGE.

In a culture where new channels of social and other media create images that go globally viral in a matter of minutes, Memeography looks at contemporary uses of personal and political iconography. In this dizzying digital environment, artists identify with specific objects or concepts as a way to communicate a larger message. The artists in Memeography explore a broad range of themes using a variety of signs, symbols, motifs and marks that are instantly recognizable yet highly personal.  Artists exhibiting in this show are:  Clarke Curtis, Christa Donner, Amber Kempthorn, Claudio Orso-Giacone, Arabella Proffer, Josh Usmani, and Mike Wallace

“Clifton Arts and Musicfest.” Open 10 am – 6 pm. If you’re looking for a classic summer festival to while your day away, the Clifton Arts and Musicfest is where you’ll need to be. Clifton Boulevard in “The Edge” district will be closed to cars and open to arts vendors, kids’ activities, live music and people hanging about enjoying the weather. Cleveland Print Room (in Artcraft Building), 2550 Superior Ave, Suite 102, Cleveland, 216.401.5981  10am – 6pm.  “Get a Wet Plate Collodion Portrait Made.”  Want to have your portrait taken but want to avoid those cheesy pics you get at mall portrait studios? The Cleveland Print Room has just the thing. They’re bringing the historic process of wet plate collodion tintype/ambrotype portraiture back to Cleveland by popular demand. Local artist/designer Greg Martin will be taking portraits by appointment — so make yours today and take home a collection of stunning, artistic photos.

Listen to what 8 of NE Ohio's most opinionated art professionals have to say to 8 of this region's most active artists during 8x8x8. This event is free and open to the public, so that anyone can get some pointers for discussing their art.  There is still room in the Open Studios section of 8x8x8, where artists can set up their physical portfolios or a laptop with images, to show their work to each other and members of the public.  Registration for the Open Studios section is free, but you must contact cvassallo@SPACESgallery.org to reserve your spot.
