Bay Arts, 28795 Lake Road, Bay Village. “BAYarts 9th annual pottery exhibition.”  Opening  7-9PM.  This year’s 9th annual show will feature ceramic pieces inspired by master painters and potters. Stop in, and maybe something will grab your eye as perfect for your home — and you’ll be encouraging an ecstatic student as well! (Image Above)

Canopy Collective, 3910 Lorain Ave., CLE. “James Quarles-solo show.”  Opening 6-10pm. Local painter, print maker and graphic designer James Quarles shows off his range of fine art and graphic skills, portraits, illustrations and mixed-media work. His work incorporates elements of pop culture, social disorder, poetry, street art, hip-hop and music.  The evening features music by DJ A Live. It’s free.

Zygote Press, 1410 East 30th St., CLE 216.621.2900  “Free Style.”  Opening 6-8pm. FREE STYLE: tease and tension between abstraction and representation.  Curated by Liz Maugans.  Work by: Justin Brennan, Dave Cintron, Jamey Hart, Michael Lombardy, James March, Kelsey Moulton, Patricia Zinmeister Parker, Scott Pickering, Grace Summanen.  

Cleveland Museum of Art, 11150 East Blvd, CLE 216.421.7350, “Brand-New and Terrific: Alex Katz-Artists Talk.”  Talk At  7PM.  Katz, who is now 89, will be at the museum’s Gartner Auditorium for a conversation with curator Diana Tuite from the Colby College Museum of Art. It’s free but you need a ticket please call 216-421-7350.
