Cleveland Print Room (in Artcraft Building), 2550 Superior Ave, Suite 102, Cleveland, 216.401.5981. “Garmonbozia.”  Opening Reception 5-9PM.  When a photo show is titled Garmonbozia, a word fabricated by director David Lynch in his film Twin Peaks: Fire Walk With Me to refer to the negative energy generated by pain and suffering, you know you’re probably going to see work with an outré sensibility.  The two photographers, Diana Hlywiak and Steve Syd, who work comprises the show of that name opening at the Cleveland Print Room, share a love for the director known for mysterious, inexplicable and dream-like work.  Both members of the CPR, the two met nearly 25 years ago and began to work on projects together. So even though each is presenting very different work, there should be a sort of internal dialogue functioning between Hlywiak’s large-scale surrealistic digital photos with a retro feel and Syd’s more abstract, experimentally processed work, shot on film and printed on convention printing paper — a technique the Cleveland Print Room is teaching to a new generation.  (Image Above)

It’s a great place to find gifts you know won’t be duplicated.  A big bazaar needs a big space so the Cleveland Bazaar will be taking over several spaces in the sprawling 78th Street Studios building all weekend. It’s free to get in, although you can buy a $20 early bird shopper pass to get in at 9am Saturday. Noted art critic and historian, Janet Koplos, senior editor of Art in America from 1990-2009, will open the conversation with a "state of the field" address. Other participants include William Brouillard, Chair of Ceramics, Cleveland Institute of Art, Eva Kwong, Chair of Ceramics, Kent State University, Anders Ruhwald, Head of Ceramics, Cranbrook Academy of Art and Anderson Turner, Director of Galleries at Kent State University School of Art.  This program will take place this Saturday, November 22 from 1-2.30pm,The event is FREE for: students, MOCA Cleveland members, children 5 and under, Active Military and Veterans.
