Akron, 330.376.9185, www.akronartmuseum.org  “Christopher Pekoc:  Hand Made.” Christopher Pekoc's mixed media assemblages are distinctive among the work of his colleagues in Cleveland and far beyond. At a time when artists are engaging with new media, Pekoc uses humble processes and materials—among them gelatin silver photography, Xerox prints, shellac, sandpaper and punches—in novel ways to create evocative images. He employs stitching to supply content to his compositions, another uncommon approach. Hands in myriad gestures—extending invitation, protecting or playfully balancing balls—recur again and again in Pekoc’s assemblages. These constructions also convey the presence of the artist’s hand in their making, with scarred surfaces as metaphors of our imperfections.

Henry used to teach ceramics here before he started the Glass program. Henry has a BFA in Ceramics from RISD and a MFA from George Washington Univ.  Make sure you guys show up for his Lecture this Friday OCt. 17 th at NOON in the Art bldg. AUD room 202.  Potluck afterwards in the School of Art Gallery- please bring some thing to share.  Sign up for a crit with Henry as he is a sharp & insightful critic. As I mentioned I am closing Eucalyptus Stoneware after 40 years in business and would like to find  homes for these Mason stains.  The picture shows some of I’ve got for sale.  (The blue cans in the background are full, by the way) Pick a stain, call around and check the prices.  You’ll see that I’m selling these pretty cheap.  I realize you don’t know me from Adam.  Ask Lana Wilson or John Conrad, they should vouch for me. hold times. Learn how to properly load your kiln so every piece comes out perfect. We will also discuss the importance of venting and how to set up your kiln room. Also learn about Skutt's new KilnLink Monitoring System that allows you to check the status of your kiln from anywhere you have internet access.

Maintenance

We will go over a few basic maintenance tips that can add years of life to your kiln. Learn how to properly kiln wash your shelves, tighten the bands, and significantly increase the life of your elements.

Repair

You will be surprised how easy it is to make basic repairs on your kiln. Think about the money you can save. We will give hands on instruction on how to change a thermocouple, replace worn out elements and install new brick. We will also talk about how to properly diagnose kiln

problems and how to make changes to correct defects in your glaze.
